Turbidimeters

A laboratory turbidimeter is designed to measure the turbidity of a liquid. Turbidity measurements are used to determine the concentration of insoluble particles suspended in the fluid.

One of the most common applications is monitoring the quality of drinking water. The presence of particles, whether mineral or organic, affects the scattering and reflection of incident light. The more particle-loaded the water is (potentially making it unfit for consumption), the more it reflects sunlight. Turbidimeters are also widely used in the food and beverage industry to analyze products such as milk, beer, and juices.

Two types of turbidimeters can be used depending on your operational needs:

Benchtop turbidimeters:
These models are designed for laboratory use and comply with relevant standards. They provide excellent sensitivity and accuracy, even with certain colored water samples. Some instruments offer data logging, aggregation, and storage features to ensure full traceability of measurements.

Portable turbidimeters:
As the name suggests, these devices are intended for field use. Despite their compact size compared to benchtop models, portable turbidimeters deliver comparable precision and sensitivity. They typically come with a carrying case, allowing users to perform on-site analyses. The collected data can then be easily transferred for later use.
